“FEAR NOT”
Christmas at Awaken
Two-thousand years ago, they were the first words the angels proclaimed to the main characters in the Christmas Story: “fear not.” Today, it’s a command for God’s people to live by every day of the year.
Join us this Advent season for a new sermon series at Awaken Church, as we look to the miraculous birth of Christ to encourage us to “fear not” 365.
RNE Christmas Market
Let’s share the hope and love that can be found only in Jesus with the student at RNE high school. This Christmas we will host our annual Christmas market for the student that are in need. We will provide gifts for them to “shop” so they can have a Christmas present for a family member and we allow them to pick one for themselves as well.
We will be collecting gifts from November 9th - December 14th.
We will also need 5 volunteers to serve at the event on December 16th—Sign up here
Gift ideas:
New clothing items for men, women, kids, teenagers (socks, shirts, Hoodies, joggers, slippers/fuzzy socks, hats, scarves - all sizes welcome)
Toys / books / games for younger kids and / or teenage kids (non-electronic toys)

Christmas Caroling
Join us for our second annual Christmas caroling event! We will meet at the building then go as a group to a local neighborhood to sing Christmas songs and invite people to our Christmas Eve service.
We will meet at the building to discuss logistics and pray then we’ll disburse.

Fellowship Luncheon
Let's kick the New Year off with a church family fellowship! It may be chilly outside, but we will have crockpots full of warm soups and plenty of yummy treats waiting for you. We will eat right after service.

Come join us for another Movie in the Park this Fall! We are back at Blaney Elementary for our 2nd MITP of 2025. We will be watching Toy Story (G), there will be free popcorn, cotton candy, water, and food truck(s) with food for purchase!

The Gathering
The Gathering is a time of fellowship were women can come together, enjoy coffee and breakfast, build community and dive into the Word of God.
We will meet every Saturday of the month from 8:30-10. Coffee will be provided and we are asking the ladies to bring a small breakfast item to share each time after that if they can.
Please come as you are, bring your Bibles, bring a friend, and be ready to hear from the Lord.

Awaken Men Fall Retreat
Calling all Awaken Men! Man Camp is October 24th-26th at USAF Wateree Recreation Area

Daybreak 5K
This is a family and pet friendly event. Come out, get some exercise in, and support our local partner as they raise funds to continue their efforts to provide a space for women to choose life and help them with basic needs right here in Columbia.

Awaken Women Fall Retreat
Join the Awaken Women for their 2025 Fall Retreat, “The Pressing”!
Cost is $88 per person and includes the following:
Cabin accommodations; each cabin sleeps 4 & all attendees need to bring their own sheets, pillows & towels
Dinner on Friday, Oct 3, & breakfast & lunch on Saturday, Oct 4
Team building activities with camp staff on Saturday afternoon
All materials for group times, including all supplies for craft time & any materials needed for group devotional gatherings.

Operation Christmas Child
Awaken Missions and AHG are partnering together again this year to collect shoeboxes for OCC. Boxes will be available in the lobby starting Sunday September 28th and filled boxes will need to be returned no later than Sunday November 2nd.
If you’d like to donate items only and not fill a box then those items can be placed on the table in the lobby.
To fill a box - Select a medium to large "wow" item such as a soccer ball with pump or stuffed animal, then fill with other fun toys, school supplies, and personal care items. Don't forget to also include a personal note and photo—sometimes these are the child's favorite things to receive! For more ideas click here
Last year we filled 109 shoeboxes, this year let’s go for 120!

Blaney Teacher Appreciation Breakfast
As a continued thank you for the teachers and staff at Blaney we will be serving them breakfast on Wednesday September 24th.
We will need 4-5 volunteers to set up and serve the food as well as donations of breakfast items. Some favorites are fruit, yogurt, granola bars, orange juice, muffins and pastries.

Awaken Family Picnic @ Sesquicentennial State Park.
Pay at the gate $6 adults; $3.75 seniors; $3.50 children ages 6-15; ages 5 & under free. We have picnic pad #1 reserved . Bring your chairs and your cooler with lunch and drinks for your family .
Splash pad will be open for kids and our picnic pad is right beside the playground
Serve Tour Elgin Community Block Party
Help us partner with Hillcrest Baptist Church in hosting a Back-to-School block party for the Elgin community.
Volunteers are needed to help with various aspects of the event, from setup and games to hospitality and distribution of school supplies. There will be inflatables, games, and food.
Come help serve and love on the Elgin community.

Community Prayer Walk
We will be going out to a local neighborhood to engage with and love on our neighbors. We will meet at the building at 9am for a pre-walk discussion and prayer time and then go out to a neighborhood near Awaken to do the prayer walk.

Awaken Building Work Day
Join us as we clean up in and around the Awaken building. There will be projects such as trimming trees, cleaning up shrubs and flower beds, parking lot maint, and a few miscellaneous indoor items.

Young Adults Lake Day
Young Adults Lake Day, Saturday July 19th 11am-5pm. Come join the young adults ministry for a day at the lake. We are gathering at Alexis’s house in Prosperity. Kids Summer Sports Camp
Awaken Kids and Students are participating in Victory Sports Camp at Blaney Elementary School this summer. The camp is July 7th - July 11th from 9 am-4pm.
This is for Rising 2nd-7th graders. They will take part in VBS and sports focused fun all week!

Fill the Pantry at LEMS
Fill The Pantry for Lugoff Elgin Middle School
Fellowship of Christian Athletes is a student lead ministry that is open to any student in the school. They don’t have to be Christian or an athlete to participate. Sara Ponds oversees this at LE Middle School and has made me aware that they need help providing snacks for the students.
They love chips, sport drinks, sodas, Debby cakes, or other individual snack bags. Let’s stay away from nuts to be safe. We will be collecting items for the entire month of July so they can start the school year off with a full pantry. There will be a box in the lobby for donations.

Join the Awaken Men for their annual golf tournament! This year the funds raised from the tournament will support our Awaken Kids Ministry.

Matt and Sarah Rogers have called Greenville home for most of the last two decades after graduating from Furman University and North Greenville University respectively. They have five children- Corrie, Avery, Hudson, Willa, and Fuller. Matt aids various mission and church plant endeavors, equips the next generation of pastors and missionaries, and preaches consistently for his local church. Sarah is passionate about the work of women's discipleship, assists in corporate worship through song, and makes the Roger's home an epicenter of care and mission.

Awaken Women Fish Fry
Awaken Women! It's finally our time! Eric Michelin has graciously planned a WOMEN'S FISH FRY for us!
Only women are invited! YAY! Just like the men, we will have fried fish, sides, and banana pudding. Women of all ages are invited to attend! This is a FREE event, so please invite a friend. We will also have a sweet time where we open up the Word of God and hear from the Lord. Let's gather together, enjoy a delicious meal prepared for us, fellowship together, and hear a Word!
